Žumberk (near České Budějovice and Český Krumlov)
July 21-30, 2008 ![]() We are very glad to inform you about the coming 2nd International Deaf Scout Camp! This camp will be held in the southern part of the Czech Republic, two years after the 1st International Deaf Scout Camp, which was held in Larch Hill, near Dublin, Ireland. We are still having fondest memories of the first meeting of Deaf scouts in Larch Hill, where new friendships were and still are fostered between scouts from the world. The region around the camp is full of beautiful nature and historical towns and villages, where you can best see what the traditional Czech way of life used to be. The camp ground is about 20 km away from the beautiful historical town of Český Krumlov. There are many old castles. The Vltava river, immortalised by the famous deafened Czech composer, Bedrich Smetana, is perfectly ideal for canoeing. The Camp will start off with an amazing Opening Ceremony with the traditional lighting of the campfire. Who can attend?Any Deaf Scouts who may join either with her/his Troop or on her/his own (as long as s/he is registered with the accredited Scout Troop. How old? Scouts from the age from 10 to about 30 year ;-) Who are leaders? There will be Troop Leaders (Deaf or hearing sign language users) accompanying her/his troops coming from all over the world.
